Event Details

Stars of Wollongong Dance for Cancer is a gala fundraising event for Cancer Council NSW.

The event will be held on Saturday 4th June 2016 at the University of Wollongong (Main

campus Hall).

Just like on the television show ‘Dancing with the Stars’, 12 prominent Illawarra business

people will work with a professional dance instructor over the weeks leading up to the

event, to learn a dance of their choosing and then perform in front of a panel of judges and

an appreciative audience.

The 12 dance couples will compete for four awards: Judges Choice Award, judged by an

expert panel of judges on the night, presented to the highest scoring team; People’s Choice

Award, as voted by the audience on the night; best costume and the Highest Fundraiser for

the ‘star’ that raises the most money in the lead up to the event.

This year, Cancer Council NSW have partners with KazzaJazz, which will see 12 dedicated

Kazzajazz educators generously donate their time to teach our stars their left feet from their

right!

Because Cancer Council is an independent, community-based charity, we only exist because

of the generosity of donors and fundraisers. It is through events like these that we can

prevent, detect and treat cancers, educate about cancer risk, advocate for cancer control

and support people during their greatest time of need.

The funds raised will go back into our local community to help people living with cancer and

their families with local cancer support services such as in-home help and transport to

cancer treatment, as well as skin prevention and nutrition workshops in local schools and

communities, along with information and access to free financial, legal and emotional

support.
